KB1FSY's VHF Operations

I currently operate VHF on 6 meters and 2 meters. This page is a work in progress but you can see some station photos and a list of equipment.

Current Equipment:

  • Yaesu FT290RII with strap-on 25 watt brick
  • Icom 706 MKIIG
  • Radioshack HTX-212
  • Ampire 146 mast-mount preamp (indoors for the time being)
  • RF Concepts 1-117 amplifier (125-135W max for whatever reason)
  • Astron RS-35M
  • Pyramid Gold Series 21K
  • Icom SM6
  • MFJ 2-way SO239 switches

Station Pictures

In the above pictures you can see (top, left to right): Bird 43 wattmeter, pair of MFJ switches in back, Yaesu FT-290RII
Bottom: MFJ ClearTone speaker, IC-706MKIIG, homebrew mic switch, MFJ-969 HF-6 tuner, RadioShack HTX-212.

The ghetto stack: M2 9 element on top through a Alliance U-100 rotor to change polarity, then a Cushcraft 3 element 6 meter beam on top of an RCA-style TV rotor. All attached to the deck. Behind it you can see a Glen Martin 8 foot rooftop tower with a Yaesu thrust bearing on top of it. The plan it to put that on the roof along with a Telex T2x rotor.
